When working in the mission field, Mission agencies are careful not to do “for” newly planted churches what God has called them to do themselves. They practice listening and learning, being careful not to slight or marginalize the role of a churches lest a spiritual welfare state of dependency quickly ensue.
• But when relating to established churches who send and support missions:
• Do agencies do missions “with” them or “for” them?
• Do they run the risk of making churches anemic When they only provide opportunities to fund what they instigate?
• Are agencies inadvertently creating a spiritual welfare state?
